When and where did you begin this sport? He began riding at age 12. He switched from jumping to dressage at age 35.
Why this sport? He had the opportunity to ride horses at a school camp and enjoyed the session. He then started attending a riding club.

Other information OLYMPIC CAREER
He made his Olympic debut at the 1964 Games in Tokyo at age 23. However, he then had to wait another 44 years for his next appearance, which came at the 2008 Games in Beijing. He had been due to represent Japan at the 1988 Games in Seoul but was forced to withdraw due to quarantine problems with his horse. He competed at the 2012 Olympic Games in London at age 71, making him the oldest Japanese Olympian and the third oldest Olympian of all time.
